Process Overview

From first inspection to your registered warranty — here's what to expect.

Step 1

Inspect for Damage

A Stoneridge sales rep inspects your roof and exterior elevations for damage.

Step 2

Initiate Claim

Call your insurance claims line to notify them of damages. It takes 5–10 minutes, and most companies are open 24/7.

Step 3

Insurance Adjustment Appointment

Your insurance adjuster comes to inspect for damage and loss to the property.
This is usually scheduled within 3–7 days after a claim is filed, though it can be quicker or longer depending on the insurance company and current storm activity.
A Stoneridge rep will meet your insurance adjuster to inspect and create a project scope.

Step 4

Project Approval

Upon approval, insurance will create an initial estimate to confirm coverage; this is not usually the final amount or exact scope. A supplement estimate is usually sent after the build with photos and documentation for small code items or any other differences in scope.

Window jobs are always pre-estimated and may take 1–3 months to approve the scope and price.
Once the initial claim approval is confirmed, we can proceed with an order.
Insurance companies require a pre-build estimate (good faith estimate) to understand the expected cost of the project upfront and coverage limits.

Step 5

Order Project

Confirm project scope and trades to be performed.
Approved scope of work is built per the insurance company's RCV (replacement cost value).
Select materials and colors with your sales rep and fill out the work order agreement.
Project is ordered and scheduled.

Step 6

Down Payment

Once the project is ordered, a down payment invoice will be sent via email. If the project is an insurance claim, the down payment amount will be for the ACV (actual cash value).
Please contact your mortgage company if needed to have insurance checks endorsed.

Step 7

Build

Roofs are usually scheduled 1–2 weeks after order; most only take 1 day to build.
Siding materials may take a few months to get in stock; most builds take 1–2 weeks.
Most window installs are 1–3 days, with touch-up painting after install.
Your sales rep will complete a final walk-through after install.
Leftover materials are usually picked up within 1 week after build.

Step 8

Post-Build Supplement

A final estimate or "supplement" is sent to your insurance for any code-required items, along with photo documentation and other docs showing what was needed, as well as permit costs.
Within a few weeks the final supplement is approved, and then Stoneridge creates a final invoice.

Step 9

Final Invoice

Final invoice is sent to the insurance company and to the client.
Any prior payments made are deducted from the final invoice balance.
Insurance sends a check for withheld depreciation funds to the client.
Clients may need to contact their mortgage company to have insurance checks endorsed, and the mortgage company may require an inspection to verify completion of the majority of the work.

Step 10

Final Payment

Final payments can be mailed to Stoneridge's office via check, or made online through the QuickBooks invoice link.

Step 11

Warranty

After final payment clears, the GAF warranty is registered and the Stoneridge Roofing & Siding warranty takes effect.

Handling Claim Denials

When a claim is denied, we support you by providing clear explanations of the work scope, offering documentation of damage, and collaborating with you to explore the best path forward. Our goal is to ensure you feel informed and supported.

Appraisal Process

Our certified experts evaluate your roof's condition and document any visible damage. We supply detailed findings which you can use to make informed decisions and communicate with your insurance company about potential appraisals.

Supplement Process

When unexpected damages or code-required upgrades arise, our estimating team documents all necessary repairs and works with your insurance adjuster. We provide detailed reports and handle all communication for a seamless experience.
